Field note 1 / practical guide

How to run a shop-local campaign

A practical planning guide for organizers who want a coordinated local-business promotion without making the campaign harder to join.

Start with the behavior you want to invite

Decide whether the campaign is about visits, points, or entries. Write the intended shopper action in one sentence before adding creative details. A clear purpose makes the member invitation and the public instructions easier to understand.

  • Name the audience and the places to include
  • Choose the campaign type
  • Define the start and end dates
  • Write what a shopper should do after scanning

Build the participating-business list

Invite businesses with enough context to make a decision. Share the campaign purpose, dates, what the business needs to display, and how the organizer plans to review participation.

Prepare the public path

Prepare QR materials for entrances, counters, event tables, or other visible locations. Pair each QR sign with a plain-language invitation. The QR code gets the shopper in. The page should explain what happens next.

Write rules before promotion begins

For points and entry campaigns, publish the qualifying action and any eligibility or prize terms supplied by the organizer. Do not suggest that a scan proves a purchase or a physical visit.

Review what the campaign can actually show

At close, separate recorded participation from merchant feedback, reported visits, purchases, and revenue. Only the first category is established as a platform direction in this brief.
